IrishFest Atlanta – GAA Workshop

photo1The club participated in the inaugural IrishFest Atlanta event held in the Westin Perimeter in Dunwoody over the weekend of November 1-2. This event was organized by Irish Traditions Atlanta who kindly invited the club to take part. The event provided people of all ages in the metro area the opportunity to learn more about Irish culture and advance Irish music and dance skills.

On Friday night members of the club attended the opening concert by Trian, an internationally acclaimed trio of traditional musicians. On Saturday morning Clan na nGael held a workshop which was organized by Cultural Officer Adrian O’Sullivan. Led by the men’s Gaelic Football and Hurling coaches, Cormac McCormack and Paul Bradley, both kids and adults were provided with demonstrations of the skills of our sports. The kids in particular showed great talent in picking up the basic skills. Attendees were also shown videos of Gaelic Football and Hurling to show the best that our sports have to offer while members highlighted club events such as our participation in the upcoming Atlanta Hawks Irish Heritage Night, local co-ed leagues, upcoming tournaments including our own Peach Cup.

Thanks to the organizers for creating a fantastic event which will be a stand out date on the calendar for years to come.
