Men’s Gaelic Football – Charlotte Game

imageAtlanta 5-12 Charlotte 2-12

Atlanta travelled to Charlotte as underdogs to take on a strong local outfit who won the 2014 Southeastern championship. Atlanta raced into a big first half lead thanks to 3 goals from James Noonan at full forward and some great play from Neil Jordan around the middle of the park. Some stellar play by Brian Canavan and Alan Corr in defense held Charlotte to only 3 points in the first half. Atlanta led at half time by a scoreline of 4-7 to 0-3.

Charlotte mounted a spirited comeback in the second half to get within 5 points with 5 minutes remaining. Atlanta however closed out the game thanks to a great goal from Thomas Kwok after some excellent work by James Noonan. Congrats to Thomas Kwok, John Mulvihill & Breandan Mac Mathuna who made their competitive debuts for Atlanta in this game.

Thanks to injured player Brian Boland who travelled to Charlotte to support the team and ended up refereeing the match for his troubles. Finally well done to Neil Carton & Alan Corr who have worked hard this Fall on recruiting new players, organizing practices on Fridays and getting this squad together to travel for this game. Roll on the 2015 season for this group!
