Atlanta Clan na nGael 2013 Golf Classic

DSCF2050

Atlanta Clan na nGael in conjunction with the Heritage Golf Links hosted our annual golf classic on Saturday May 11, 2013 with sixteen teams competing in a four person team scramble tournament. Thanks to the support of the local Irish American community in Atlanta, the event was a tremendous success and thoroughly enjoyed by all the participants and spectators that attended.

Apart from a downpour at the end of play, the weather was perfect for golf and the pristine condition of the course was appreciated by all. After the scores were totted up, the leader board showed a three way tie between teams led by Jim O’Sullivan, Cheryl Linden and Neil Jordan. After a count back however Jim O’Sullivan’s team pictured above were declared the winners. Paul Gleeson, the Irish Consulate General in Atlanta, was on hand to preside over the prizegiving ceremony and thank all for their attendance. More photos from the day can be seen here.

In addition to the excellent golf on offer, the day had a strong Irish cultural feel to it. Prior to commencement of play, a demonstration of traditional Irish dancing was provided by the King O’Sullivan School of Dance while the Ballybeg Band played traditional Irish music in the clubhouse after close of play.

Special thanks to Events Officer Paul Bradley who led the organization of this event and the numerous club members who volunteered their time on the day.

This event would not of course have been a success without the generous support provided by our tournament sponsors for which the club is deeply grateful.
